Personal Storage
Mini-storage, a nascent service offering storage for personal belongings, has emerged in China. Some large warehouses provide small-area storage services, but these services involve stacking items in large warehouses with no clear separation between items, thus lacking security and privacy. Most regions in my country do not meet the conditions for developing mini-storage; currently, it is only quietly gaining popularity in first-tier cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen.
Reserve Warehouses
Reserve warehouses are primarily used to store goods produced year-round and consumed seasonally, or goods produced seasonally and consumed year-round. These warehouses can be located at the starting point or the end point of goods transportation. Reserve warehouses require a high level of maintenance for the goods.
Wholesale Warehouses
Wholesale warehouses primarily store goods acquired by commercial wholesale departments and then supplied to retail goods or other commercial wholesale departments. Depending on the requirements of the receiving units, they generally handle the replenishment, splitting, powdering, and repackaging of goods. The characteristics of this type of warehouse are small quantities, frequent batches, and high throughput, and they are mostly located in consumption areas.
Retail Warehouses
Retail warehouses primarily serve as short-term storage for retail stores. After receiving goods from wholesalers, retail departments typically perform necessary processing activities such as unpacking, inspection, sorting, grading, repackaging, and modification. These warehouses are usually attached to the retail store; larger retail stores may have dedicated retail warehouses nearby; supermarkets and large retail businesses also need to establish distribution centers to ensure daily supply.
Transit Warehouses
Transit warehouses primarily address the storage needs of goods during transit, specifically the temporary stops for changing transport vehicles. These warehouses are generally located near train stations and docks.
